Bengal name Mridul Banerjee as their Santosh Trophy coach!

IFA - West BengalThe Indian Football Association (IFA), the parent body of football in West Bengal, has named Mridul Banerjee as the Bengal head coach for the upcoming Santosh Trophy.

But the former defender is facing a problem as he is also the head coach of Second Division League side Mohammedan Sporting Club and the dates of the Santosh Trophy and Second Division League might clash, which would force Mridul Banerjee to focus on his club commitments.

The IFA Honorary Secretary Utpal Ganguli said on the matter, “I will request the AIFF to schedule the dates of Santosh Trophy in such a manner that it won’t clash with the Second Division League.”

Mridul Banerjee was chosen as Bengal’s head coach by the IFA coaches committee head by chairman and former India international Manoranjan Bhattacharya and he would have Partha Sen as Assistant Coach and Hemanta Dora as the teams Goalkeeping Coach.

Meanwhile Nasim Ali has been appointed as the head coach of Bengal Sub Junior team.
