Bengaluru FC notched their fourth win of the BDFA Super Division campaign with a 4-0 defeat of Bangalore Independents at the Bangalore Football Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday. Goals from Rahul Raju, Macarton Nickson, Shigil NS and Vinith Venkatesh secured three points for the Blue Colts in what was a one-sided affair from start to finish.

Bengaluru FC started on the front foot, and scored twice in quick succession when Rahul skipped past his marker and saw his effort spilt by Independents ‘keeper Anthony Thomas. Only moments later, the Blue Colts doubled their lead through Macarton, who latched onto a pass from Shigil to at the far post.

Sandesh Bhoite’s team made it three on the half hour mark when Lalthangliana’s cross into the box was met by Shigil, who poked home past Anthony to give the Blue Colts a commanding lead heading into the break.

Bengaluru FC rang in a change at the break with Macarton replaced by Vinith, and the substitute scored with five minutes of the restart when his shot from a Rahul backheel had too much on it for Anthony to save. Bengaluru pushed forward and had several chances to add to their tally, but for stubborn defending from the Independents defenders.

The Blue Colts next face FC Bengaluru United at the same venue on Thursday, December 16 at 3pm.
