Bengaluru FC Girls set to participate in KSFA A Division League!

Bengaluru FC, on Thursday, announced their 22-member squad set to take part in the 2022-23 KSFA Women’s A Division League. The BFC Women’s side, comprising primarily U-17 players, will be led by Coach Kishore Chavan, with an aim to do better on their impressive fourth place finish last term, in what was their maiden competitive tournament appearance. The tournament also comes on the back of the Khelo India Women’s U-17 Football Championship, where the girls clinched the title.

“These girls have come a long way since the last time we took part in this competition, and have worked really hard since coming into our program. Tournaments like the KSFA Women’s League are exactly the kind of opportunities they need to improve themselves in a competitive environment. We are thankful to the KSFA for providing them this opportunity,” said Suhel Nair, Technical Head of Grassroots and BFC Soccer Schools.

Bengaluru FC will be joined by three teams they have previously faced in the Division – Pass FC, United FC Kodagu, GRK Girls FC – while Legends de Sporting and Young Stars FC have been promoted from the KSFA ‘B’ Division League. The tournament will be played in a single-legged league format, with the team finishing atop the table set to gain promotion to the KSFA Women’s Super Division League.

Defender Aabha Kudale has been named captain of the side, while the 22-woman roster also features Tanvi Nair and Ruthu Sreenandan, who were part of Karnataka’s squad that qualified for the final round of the 2022-23 Senior National Women’s Football Championship.

Bengaluru FC are in action in the opening game of the competition, on Sunday, May 21 against Pass FC with kick-off scheduled for 8am. All fixtures in the tournament will be held at the Bangalore Football Stadium.
