Bengaluru FC hammer Jawahar Union 5-0 in Bangalore Super Division!

Bengaluru FC returned to winning ways, extending their unbeaten run to nine games with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over Jawahar Union in their Round-11 Bangalore Super Division League encounter at the Bangalore Football Stadium, in Bengaluru, on Thursday. A first-half brace from Biswa Darjee (26′, 28′) along with goals from Parag Shrivas (40′), Myron Mendes (51′) and Lalnuntluanga (73′) handed Naushad Moosa’s boys all three points as the leaders took their tally to 28 points.

The Blue Colts began the game on the front foot and almost took the lead in the third minute when playmaker Advaith Shinde made a darting run into the box on the left. He managed to evade his markers before setting up Leon Augustine on the right, whose effort was palmed onto the crossbar by Kevin Koshy in the Jawahar Union goal.

Despite missing a few chances early on, Bengaluru FC struck twice just before the half hour mark. Naorem Roshan Singh’s brilliantly floated delivery from the left found Biswa in the box to loop his header past the reach of an outstretched Koshy in the 26th minute. Two minutes later, Biswa found the net once again. Parag’s long throw from the left was flicked on by Ajay Chhetri into the box to find the Blue Colts’ midfielder unmarked to nod home.

Jawahar Union were dealt with a blow moments later when midfielder Joshua Nallapalli was sent off for a second bookable offense, reducing them to ten men. Parag then made it three on the 40th minute mark when he timed his run into the box well to slot home Rakesh Oram’s cut back. The Blue Colts continued their domination well into the second half and increased their lead within just six minutes. Myron, finding himself in space after a pass from Rakesh, fired home into the top corner from over 25-yards-out to make it 4-0.

In making his second substitution, Moosa sent on defender Amal Das, who made his first competitive appearance for the Blue Colts since an injury suffered in the previous season. Bengaluru FC had two close chances through Parag and substitute Calvin Baretto but both were denied by the framework before their persistence in the final third paid off in the 73rd minute. Lalnuntluanga, on for Ajay in the first half, made a dart down the middle to latch on to Advaith’s pass and finish past Kevin to complete the rout.

Bengaluru FC face ASC in their next clash of the Bangalore Super Division on Thursday, December 27.
