Bengaluru FC suffer loss to Sudeva Delhi FC in U-13 JSW Youth Cup!

Bengaluru FC’s hopes of making the top two in the U-13 JSW Youth Cup were dealt a blow as individual brilliance from Mars Ningthoujam gave Sudeva Delhi FC a 4-1 win and three points in Bellary on Saturday. Goals from Gaurav Kumar (3′) and Maibam Yoihenba Meitei (25′) gave Sudeva a first half lead, before Mars (48′,60′) wrapped up his brace to give Sudeva Delhi FC a comfortable victory.

The Bengaluru FC U-13 Boys started brightly and created chances with Sehajvir Singh and Ishan Chatur, but their momentum didn’t influence the scoreline. Sudeva Delhi FC opened the scoring when Gaurav Kumar was found unmarked in the box from a corner, the midfielder nodded the ball into the ground, beyond the reach of Dhruv Bafna in goal.

The early strike didn’t faze the Young Blues, who continued to push for the equaliser. The front three of Sehajvir, Miran Kaping and Ishan made all the right noises in attack, and with the shot count rising, the side from Bengaluru finally leveled the scores courtesy an own goal from Anmol. Sehajvir’s cross caught the defender off guard, and his attempted clearance went past Lalneithang Vaiphei in goal.

Moments later, a through ball from Mars found Maibam, who kept his composure and slotted it into the far post to give Sudeva Delhi FC the lead once again. The two forwards linked up for Sudeva’s third goal of the evening, this time Maibam setting up Mars who smashed it into the back of the net from close range. Mars added to his tally with ten minutes left to play, sealing victory for the visitors.

The Bengaluru FC U-13 Boys next face RoundGlass Punjab FC on April 25 at the same venue.
