Borussia Dortmund youth set-up signs Thomas Broich!

Borussia Dortmund’s youth academy has appointed a new sporting director. Former Bundesliga player Thomas Broich, 43, will take over the position at Germany’s most successful youth set-up at present on July 1, 2024. His contract will run until June 30, 2027.

Broich, who enjoyed spells with 1.FC Köln, Borussia Mönchengladbach and 1.FC Nürnberg throughout his playing career, most recently worked as Head of Methodology at Hertha BSC.

“Thomas is very passionate about the development of talented youngsters and boasts a wealth of experience as a professional player in the Bundesliga and abroad. During his time in Frankfurt and Berlin, he gained valuable insights into the training of young players. In addition, he is known as a TV pundit, has proven his expertise in this area too and therefore brings an additional facet of football to the table,” said Borussia Dortmund’s Managing Director for Sport, Lars Ricken.

Thomas Broich added, “My discussion with Lars Ricken were characterised by a high level of agreement in terms of his vision for the future and my ideas. Like me, BVB’s youth academy aspires to continuously develop its own training concept and philosophy of play. I can hardly wait to shape this path together with everyone who is involved.”
