Brunei Darussalam’s FABD delegation visits AFC House!

Pengiran Haji Matusin bin Pengiran Haji Matasan, the President of the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD), led a delegation to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) headquarters on Friday.

The FABD President, joined by the FABD Executive Committee Members, the General Secretary Mohammad Shahnon bin Haji Mohd. Salleh and other FABD delegates, were welcomed by the AFC’s General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John and the AFC Deputy General Secretary Vahid Kardany.

In yet another clear sign of Asian football’s steady recovery, the visit by the FABD delegation was the first time the AFC opened its doors to an MA delegation in more than two years since the start of the pandemic.

The FABD delegation was briefed on the AFC’s Vision and Mission as well as the introduction of two new development initiatives – the Extra-Time and Advantage Programmes – which were approved by the AFC Executive Committee earlier this month with the aim of strengthening and accelerating the capacity of the AFC MAs’ in growing the sport across the Continent.

Both the AFC and the FABD underlined the spirit of unity and solidarity within the Asian football family and further reinforced the willingness to work closely together to ensure the continued development of the sport across the Continent.

The AFC General Secretary said: “The AFC is delighted to welcome our friends from FABD to the Home of Asian football. It has been challenging for everyone in the last two years but the AFC remains committed in its efforts to assist and work with the FABD to grow the sport at all levels.”

Following the insightful presentations, the FABD delegation was given a tour of the AFC House.

The FABD President added: “In the last two years we have lost many friends in the Asian football family so let’s take the time to remember them. I also want to thank the AFC and all those who have helped grow football in our country. FABD will continue to foster a close relationship with the AFC and the wider Asian football family.”

He also thanked the AFC General Secretary for his hospitality and outlined the FABD’s steadfast commitment to increase the growth and reach of the sport across all levels, whilst emphasising its desire to enhance the professionalism of the game in the Sultanate.
