Burnley FC sign midfielder Aaron Ramsey!

Burnley FC have announced the signing of England U-20 midfielder Aaron Ramsey from Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee.

Ramsey has signed a five-year deal at Turf Moor to become Vincent Kompany’s 11th new summer signing after spending the last 12 years at Villa Park.

Upon joining the Clarets, the 20-year-old said, “I’m absolutely buzzing. I have been waiting to be a Burnley player for a while now and I’m really happy it’s all officially done now. I can’t wait to get started.”

“I can’t wipe my smile off my face. When you come to a new club you want the lads to welcome you in and everyone here has done that straight away. It’s been really easy to settle, everyone has been amazing.”

After progressing through the youth set up in the Midlands, Ramsey made his senior debut for the Villans in an EFL Cup tie in August 2021 against Barrow before making his first loan move in January 2022 to Cheltenham Town.

Ramsey featured 14 times during his time in Gloucestershire which then saw the attacking midfielder join Norwich City in the Championship prior to the start of last season.

The midfielder made 20 appearances for the Canaries before spending the second half of the 2022/23 campaign with Middlesbrough, where his five goals in 11 matches helped Boro secure the play-offs.

Ramsey has been capped from U-16 – U-20 level for the Three Lions and was part of the U-19s squad that lifted the UEFA European Championship last year.
