CAF Futsal AFCON fever grips Rabat!

The TotalEnergies CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2024 fever is in full swing across the host city Rabat ahead of the opening ceremony of the 7th edition.

Morocco will be hosting the tournament for the second successive time in the capital Rabat between April 11-21, 2024.

The hosts have won the last two titles of the quadrennial competition which has two debutants Namibia and Mauritania.

The refurbished Salle Prince Moulay Abdellah and Salle IBN Yassine are the two venues for the exciting fast-paced eight nations indoor football competition. The locals are also expected to fill the world-class Salle Prince Moulay Abdellah and the Salle IBN Yassine venues for the thrilling matches.

Hosts and defending champions Morocco headline Group A alongside 2020 third placed Angola, Zambia and former runners-up Ghana who will be making their second tournament appearance.

Morocco will face Angola at the Salle Prince Moulay Abdellah on Thursday, April 11 at 20:00 GMT after the Ghana and Zambia battle at 17:00 GMT.

Record winners Egypt are the top seed in Group B which also has the two debutants Namibia and Mauritania and former champions Libya.

Egypt will open their quest for a record-extending fourth title with a difficult fixture against 2008 champions Libya on Friday, April 12 at 17:00 GMT at the Salle Prince Moulay Abdellah.

Newcomers Mauritania and Namibia will play in the late fixture of the day at 20:00 GMT.

The TotalEnergies CAF Futsal AFCON also serves as the qualification tournament for the FIFA Futsal World Cup.

The top three teams will gain automatic qualification to this year’s FIFA Futsal World Cup in Uzbekistan between September 14 – October 6, 2024.
