Cairo to kick off CAF African Schools Football Championship UNAF Qualifiers!

The Egyptian capital of Cairo will kick off the CAF African Schools Football Championship UNAF Qualifiers on Sunday, December 17 as the exciting youth competition uniquely designed by CAF for school going learners continues across the continent.

The UNAF edition of the qualifiers takes place between 17 – 19 December at the Sports City June 30 Stadium and will see the winners in both the boys and girls groups join the champions of WAFU B, CECAFA as well as COSAFA who have all conducted successful qualifiers over the last few weeks.

Three nations will contest the CAF African Schools Football Championship UNAFA title in a round-robin format in both the boys and girls division. The participating nations are hosts Egypt, Morocco as well as Libya.

The boys’ category matches will be held on a full-sized field with a formation that includes 11 players from each team, while the girls’ category’s field will be divided into two halves, relying on a formation consisting of 8 players from each team. The duration of each half in both categories will be 20 minutes.

The hosts will kick off the competition against Morocco at 10h30 local time while the same fixture will kick off the girls tournament at noon.

On the sidelines of the tournament, CAF in partnership with UNAF, will be organizing a series of workshops as per the tournament’s objective of capacitating young Africans.

These include the CAF Safeguarding Workshop, Young Reporters Programme, Young Referee’s Programme, Young Medical Officers programme as well as a CAF D License Coaching Course for aspirant coaches.
