Calcutta Premier Division: East Bengal score 4-3 comeback win over United SC!

United SCEast Bengal Club won a thriller 4-3 against United SC in their fourth Calcutta Football League’s Premier Division – A at the floodlit Barasat Municipal Stadium in Kolkata this evening.

Defending champions East Bengal moved to 12 points from four matches, while former I-League side United SC still have to open their points tally from the same number of matches.

East Bengal had the better start into the game, but not scoring a goal they went behind off a Manotosh Chakladar long ranger in the 15th minute and it stayed that way until the break.

The second session would be a rollercoaster ride, one of the best halves in a long time of the CFL. East Bengal equalised in the 49th minute through a Lalrindika Ralte strike off Abinash Ruidas, but United SC again went ahead in the 54th minute of a Bello Rasaq penalty after keeper Dibyendu Sarkar had brought down Amod Mahato in the box. And it got even worse for the red and gold as V.P. Suhair scored United SC’s third in the 63rd minute off a Budhiram Tudu pass.

But the game was far from over. East Bengal reduced the deficit through another penalty at the other end in the 74th minute when substitute Do Dong Hyun scored past Sangram Mukherjee after Bello had fouled Dika. East Bengal then equalised in the 80th minute when an Abinash Ruidas corner was headed in by captain Arnab Mondal and then a minute from time it was a placed Lalrindika Ralte strike which earned East Bengal the three points in a game which could have gone the other way.

But for Trevor Morgan and his men it was the perfect comeback from 1-3 down to win the game 4-3 against a United SC, who will be gutted after putting up such a great fight.
