Champions East Bengal score late 2-1 win over Pathachakra in CFL!

Calcutta Football League champions East Bengal Club continued their winning CFL campaign with a late 2-1 victory over Pathachakra at the East Bengal ground on Thursday afternoon.

The young Pathachakra side gave East Bengal a tough time throughout the 90 minutes and they went ahead in the 41st minute through a Jagannath Oraon strike, but East Bengal equalised in the first half injury time when Brandon Vanlalremdika scored off a rebound after a Mahmoud Al Amna had been blocked by Pathachakra keeper Subham Roy.

East Bengal were the better side after the break, but they needed a controversial penalty to win the match. Syrian midfielder Mahmoud Al Amna went down due to a push, which resulted in referee Tanmoy Dhar pointing to the spot and it was Mahmoud Al Amna himself who scored the winner for the red and gold.

With their sixth win in a row, East Bengal moved back to the top of the CFL table with now 18 points from six matches.
