Chandigarh Youth League – Day 6: Teams fight for semifinal spots!

Chandigarh Youth League continued with Day 6 of matches today at Sector 17 Football Stadium. The Chandigarh Youth League is being organised from May 27 to June 11 by Minerva Punjab FC in association with Chandigarh Football Association and Mission XI Million at the Sector 17 Football Stadium.

Day six of matches kicked off and teams of the 19 years and above, 16-18 years, 13-15 years and 9-12 years Age Groups played their next round of matches in the morning and evening at the Sector 17 football stadium amidst festive atmosphere. Matches were played in 7-a-side format and each team was mentored by a Minerva Punjab FC coach.

Special games were held for parents who were accompanying the kids to the matches. They took part in Blindfold penalty challenge where they were blindfolded and spun around before taking a penalty kick. Prizes like Mission XI Million and Minerva Punjab were distributed for the winners of these fun and interactive games.

The competition was stronger than ever as all teams tried to get as many points as possible to qualify for the semi finals. There were upsets and unexpected results in each group making the race to the semi finals a close and exciting one.

The morning saw matches of the 8-12 Years age group which are always a joy to watch, Real Madrid and KV FC locked horns in a tough encounter. Both teams gave each other stiff competition as both teams fought to top the league table in their age group. The match ended up in ageless draw 0-0.
In the other encounter in this age group, Bayern Munich FC took on 5 Warrior FC in the evening and though the Bayern Munich kids showed great character on the field they lost out 5-1 to 5 Warriors FC.

In the 13-15 age group, one of the favourites of this age group, Kabir FC gave Warrior Fc an 8-0 thumping to secure second place in the league table.
In the same age group, Chelsea FC breezed past Arsenal FC as they won 2-0.
Rising Star FC vs Stephen AC in this age group was a tough encounter and both teams came out with intent to win the match but could not put the ball in the back of the net. They ended up splitting points for a goalless draw.
In the most thrilling encounter of the age group Stephen FC beat Man U FC 2-1 in a brisk paced match which saw both team playing end to end football. In the end Stephen FC got the better of the fight and took away all three points.

In the 16-18 Age Group; Tiger FC beat Champion FC 5-0 in a one sided game, Champion FC though showed lot of determination but just could not string together any promising moves to come back into the game.
Chelsea FC drew 1-1 with King Warrior FC as both teams fought to stay out of the bottom zone of the league table standings of their age group.

In the 19 Years and Above Category; 7 Warrior FC were squashed 9-0 by Red Devils FC who dominated proceeding from the first whistle. The Red Devils improved their goal difference tremendously with this victory and shot up to the top of the table.
In the other match of the age group CR 7 lost 2-0 to Invincible FC who shot up to the second place in the league table with the win.
