China’s Wang Shanshan named 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup’s MVP!

As China celebrated their historic victory, midfielder Wang Shanshan was rewarded for a superb individual campaign with the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup’s Most Valuable Player Award on Sunday.

Wang Shanshan’s honour came after China defeated South Korea 3-2 in a gripping final at the D.Y. Patil Stadium to win a record-extending ninth AFC Women’s Asian Cup title.

The award was due recognition for Wang Shanshan who had been a consistent performer throughout the campaign which saw China win the trophy after a 16 year wait.

“This is the perfect moment for the China PR team after many years of waiting,” said Wang Shanshan. “This is my first AFC Women’s Asian Cup title and I want to thank all the coaching staff and the players for a job well done.”
