Christopher Nkunku to depart RB Leipzig!

Christopher Nkunku Nkunku will leave RB Leipzig on June 30, 2023 to join two-time UEFA Champions League winners Chelsea FC in the Premier League.

The Frenchman joined RB Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain in summer 2019 and have made a total of 172 appearances for the club. In addition to 70 goals, Christo contributed 56 assists and was therefore directly involved in 126 goals.

After his strong performances, Didier Deschamps called him up for the France national team for the first time in March 2022 and he celebrated his debut for ‘Les Bleus’ on March 25 in a 2-1 win against Ivory Coast after being substituted on in the 75th minute. Nkunku currently has 10 international caps.

The 25-year-old crowned his time with RB Leipzig on June 3 when he helped the side lift their second German DFB-Pokal trophy. Like in the 2022 win, Christopher Nkunku was on the scoresheet in the final again.

After being named “2022 Footballer of the Year” in Germany, he became the Bundesliga’s top scorer this season with 16 goals together with Niclas Füllkrug of SV Werder Bremen. Both of these awards are firsts for an RB Leipzig player, as is his nomination for the 2022 Ballon d’Or.
