Clubs receive first-ever financial distribution from UEFA Women’s EURO 2022!

A total of 221 clubs from 17 national associations profit from the new club benefits programme paid to sides whose players appeared in the tournament.

Although the final whistle at UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 was in July at a sold-out Wembley Stadium, the legacy and impact of the tournament continues. Funds from the first-ever club benefits programme in women’s football are being distributed to 221 clubs from 17 national associations, which includes all 16 participating countries as well as Scotland.

Women’s EURO 2022 marked the first time UEFA has run the club benefits programme for the tournament. The programme is a recognition of the important contribution of clubs and their players to the success of the best final tournament ever and is also a symbol of UEFA’s commitment to the development of all facets of the women’s game.

Club benefits programme payments are allocated to European clubs whose players were selected for national teams participating in Women’s EURO 2022. The total amount paid is calculated according to the number of days that a player was released for the final tournament: this includes ten preparation days, the total number of days a player participated in the tournament, plus one additional travel day.

For each of its players taking part in the Women’s EURO who were part of the squad from ten days before its first match until its elimination, a club is guaranteed a minimum payment of €10,000. Where a player was replaced during the tournament due to injury or registered with a new club during the tournament period, the club(s) concerned receive a pro rata payment.
