Colombia no longer co-hosts of 2021 Copa America!

The South American football confederation, CONMEBOL, has decided not to play the upcoming 2021 Copa America in Colombia due to ongoing protests against Colombian President Ivan Duque.

Earlier the Colombian government’s formal request to reschedule CONMEBOL Copa América for November 2021 had been turned down.

This was due to reasons related to the international match calendar of competitions and the logistics of the tournament, which made it impossible to move the CONMEBOL Copa América 2021 to November.

CONMEBOL appreciates the enthusiasm and commitment placed by the President of the Republic of Colombia, Iván Duque and his government as well as for the president of the Colombian Football Federation, Ramón Jesurún, and his team.

It is certain that in the future new projects will emerge together for the growth of Colombian and South American football.

CONMEBOL ensures the realization of the CONMEBOL Copa América 2021 and will inform in the coming days the relocation of the matches which were to be played in Colombia.
