CONCACAF has confirmed the schedule, venues, and kickoff times for the 2023/24 CONCACAF Nations League (CNL) Group Stage matches taking place during the upcoming October FIFA Match Window.
The competition’s third edition, revamped to include more direct elimination matches that qualify teams for continental summer competitions, kicked off in September with 34 thrilling Group Stage matches across all three Leagues.
Some top moments included Trinidad and Tobago coming away with six points from two matches – the only League A team to do so, a thrilling 2-2 between Jamaica and Haiti, exemplifying the very best in Caribbean football, Saint Lucia and Puerto Rico continuing their winning ways in League B after culminating the 2022/23 edition with perfect records, and some excellent individual player performances and goals.
October’s matches will conclude Group Stage play for League A, with the group winners and runners-up advancing to the Quarterfinals, where they will join Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico, and the United States (four top-ranked League A nations). Also, these crucial matches will determine the four nations relegated to League B for next year’s CNL (fifth and sixth-place finishers).
The Quarterfinals of League A will be played in a home-and-away format in November 2023, with the aggregate score winners in each pairing advancing to the 2024 CNL Finals, to be played in March 2024, and qualifying for the CONMEBOL Copa America USA 2024.
The pairings for the Quarterfinals will be determined based on the CONCACAF Rankings of October 2023 (after the FIFA Window) and the 2023/24 CNL Group Stage results, as follows:
- QF1: Fourth-ranked seeded team vs Best first place (1A/1B)
- QF2: Third-ranked seeded team vs Next first place (1A/1B)
- QF3: Second-ranked seeded team vs Best second place (2A/2B)
- QF4: Best-ranked seeded team vs Next second place (2A/2B)
The remaining two CONCACAF participants in the CONMEBOL Copa America USA 2024 will be determined via a single-match direct elimination Play-In between the four League A losing Quarterfinalists. This Play-In will also take place in March 2024.
Leagues B and C will also continue Group Stage play during the FIFA Match Windows of October and November 2023, as nations battle for promotion and relegation heading into the 2024/25 CNL. Four of the 16 participants for League B will be promoted to League A (group winners), and the bottom team in each group will be relegated to League C (four teams).
Similarly, for League C, at the conclusion of Group Stage play in November, four teams will be promoted to League B. The promoted teams include the three group winners and the best second-place finisher.
