Delhi FC maintain 100% record with 1-0 win over Daimalu Club!

Having beaten Durand Cup regulars Assam Rifles in the previous game, Delhi FC arrived to play their third and final group game of the Bordoloi Trophy.

In Group B, Delhi FC have Daimalu Club, Assam Police Blues, and Assam Rifles for company.

The game started with Delhi FC dominating possession and pressing high up the pitch as they usually do. It reaped great dividends for them in the previous game, as Laiwang’s goal was all about the high press and putting the opponents under pressure. As such, Delhi FC started this game in similar fashion.

Delhi FC got their first half-chance in the 8th minute as a cross came in from the left, and captain Kosuke Yamazaki latched onto it, but his shot was well blocked by the defender.

Immediately then at the other end, Daimalu Club set up a good counterattack down the left. The cutback was met by a Daimalu Club player, but Delhi FC goalkeeper Anuj made a good save.

Another free-kick was swung in in the 14th minute by Daimalu Club, which was again parried away by Anuj.

Delhi FC created some more half-chances, but the score was 0-0 at halftime.

In the 75th minute, Delhi FC got a freekick in a dangerous position after a push in the back by a Daimalu Club player. Kosuke lined it up, and his left-footed effort went just over the bar.

In the 78th minute, there was a mix-up between goalkeeper and defender for Daimalu Club, allowing Krishna Pandit to get to the ball and slot it into the back of the net. It was 1-0 to Delhi FC.

Krishna’s solitary goal was enough for Delhi FC to get all three points, as it ended 1-0 in favour of the Minervan team.

With the win, Delhi FC stormed into the semifinals of the 68th Bordoloi Trophy, maintaining their 100% record, scoring five goals in three games and conceding just one.
