FC Bayern Munich and Konrad Laimer have agreed to extend the Austria international’s contract until 30 June 2029. The 29-year-old defender has been playing for the Munich side since the 2023/24 season, during which time he’s won the Bundesliga twice, as well as the DFB Cup and German Supercup once each.
Max Eberl, FC Bayern board member for sport, said, “We’re delighted Konny is continuing his journey at FC Bayern. He’s the very picture of reliability at the highest level, and with his skills and character, he’s a vital part of the team. He’s a player who inspires and motivates others, day in, day out.”
Christoph Freund, FC Bayern sporting director, said, “We greatly value Konny’s versatility, passion and consistency. He consistently delivers on his qualities, season after season, game after game. He’s a role model because he never gives up on a ball, is constantly developing and is also a key figure in the dressing room.”
Konrad Laimer said, “For me, it’s something very special to take to the pitch in the FC Bayern jersey. I’ve often emphasised how happy I am in Munich and that it’s great fun to play football in this team. I’ve felt that here from day one. I can help the team in many positions and want to continue giving my all for FC Bayern every single second. Anything is possible with this team, and I can’t wait for the season to start again.”
Laimer, who was born in Salzburg, has made 136 competitive appearances for FC Bayern to date (seven goals, 19 assists). He has made 61 appearances for the Austrian national team so far, scoring seven goals. At the World Cup in North America, he played the full 90 minutes in every game for Austria; in the round of 32, they were defeated by Spain, who went on to become world champions.
