Delhi FC score 4-1 over Indian Air Force 4-1, stay top in Delhi Premier League!

Sitting on top of the table in the Delhi Premier League after three consecutive wins, Delhi FC were ready to take on Indian Air Force in their fourth fixture, who were meanwhile fresh from winning the inter-services championship, where they defeated the Indan Navy and also Indian Army, who had made it to the semifinals of the Durand Cup this year.

Delhi FC were provided an early setback in the game as Indian Air Force mustered a good move in the very 1st minute of the game and scored. For the first time in the Delhi Premier League this season, Delhi FC had to come from behind.

But Delhi FC then grew into the game and began piling on the pressure with their smooth movement and intricate passing.

They won a corner, which was sent into the box and cleared away unconvincingly by the Indian Air Force. As a result, Delhi FC opened them up down the right, and a ball was crossed in for Arthur Kouassi, who headed in the equalizer.

Delhi FC then came close to taking the lead as Sergio Barboza unleashed a stunning right-footed effort 30 yards from goal and the ball went marginally wide.

Nikhil Mali then dropped another ball in from the left and this time Arthur Kouassi got his head onto it yet again to give Delhi FC the lead.

They came close with another effort on the counter from Sergio Barboza, who drew a good save out of the goalkeeper. Nikhil Mali’s long-range attempt and Arthur Kouassi’s bicycle kick both had gone wide of the target a few mins before.

Arthur Kouassi then got his hattrick before halftime as another ball dropped in from right found his path, and the striker put his right boot through it.

It was 3-1 to Delhi FC at half-time.

Delhi FC came out dominating the second half, denying Indian Air Force any possession.

They had a good chance to make it 4-1, as Himanshu Jangra received the ball down the right and played in a nice little reverse pass to Dipanda Dicka, who was onside, but the Cameroonian spurned the opportunity as his first time shot went high and wide.

Indian Air Force looked to move forward to reduce the deficit but to no avail.

In the end, Himanshu Jangra sealed the victory with an absolute rocket. The youngster came in from the right, cut inside on his left, and rifled the ball into the top corner with his left.

With that, Delhi FC picked up their fourth win in the Delhi Premier League, this time coming from behind to grab all three points and maintain their spot on top of the table. They play The Royal Rangers next on December 21.
