Diego Pablo Simeone will remain coach of Atletico de Madrid until June 30, 2027. The Argentine coach signed his new contract in the offices of the Cívitas Metropolitano, thus signing the continuity of the project that began with his arrival on the Red & White bench in December 2011.
Since then, the clubhas gone through one of its most successful periods, during which we have won eight titles: two LaLiga titles (2013/14 and 2020/21), one Copa del Rey (2012/13), two Europa League (2011/12 and 2017/18), two European Super Cups (2012, 2018) and one Spanish Super Cup (2014). To these titles the club can add two UEFA Champions League finals, in 2014 and 2016, all of them achievements that allowed the club to reach the second place in the UEFA club ranking.
To date, Simeone has coached Atletico Madrid for 642 games, winning 380 matches and losing just 18% of them. Simeone is not only the coach who has coached the team the most times in official matches – surpassing the 612 of Luis Aragonés – but also the most successful and the one who has coached the same team the most consecutive seasons in LaLiga now.
Likewise, since his first full season in the Atleti bench, the team has always qualified for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, a milestone that in the last eleven seasons has been equalled only by Manchester City, Bayern Munich, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
