Don Bosco HS & Sporting Goa organise the 5th All Goa U-12 Invitation Tournament!

Don Bosco High School & Sporting Clube de Goa organised the 5th edition of All Goa Under-12 Invitational Tournament.

In total 20 teams across north Goa participated in the contest. The Rosary HS, St. Xavier’s HS Moira, Shantiniketan HS, Don Bosco HS, Sharada Mandir HS, Chubby Cheeks HS, Santo Minguel HS, St. Clara HS, St. Joseph HS, St. Anna Tivim, St Britto’s HS, Pope Jhon XXIII HS, Sacred Heart HS & SCG Grassroots participated in the one-day extravagance which kick-started from 9am on Friday, February 24. The Don Bosco HS football coach Fracis Raposo & Head of Youth Development Sporting Clube de Goa Shekar Kerkar headed the organising committee under the overall coordination of Angelo Albuquerque Competition Director at Sporting Clube de Goa. Fr. Savio Gomes Rector Don Bosco Panjim & Principal Don Bosco Higher Secondary declared the tournament open.

After an extraordinary contest which lasted the entire day, it was Don Bosco Green’s who came out victorious in the finals beating Don Bosco A 3-1. Brendon Menezes, Ashwin D’Costa & Joseph Cardozo got on the scoresheet for Don Bosco Green’s while Xavier Falcao scored the consolation goal for Don Bosco A. In a third place match St. Ann’s Tivim defeated St. Joseph Calangute 3–2 on penalties after the regular time ended in a 1–1 draw.

Speaking about the tournament, Sporting Clube de Goa CEO Victor Fernandes said, “This tournament is an extension of our comprehensive grassroots program. With this, we aim to create a platform for the young aspiring footballers to put their skills on display.” The Competition Director of Sporting Angelo Albuquerque said “We plan on making this tournament a bigger affair with every passing year. We want more and more kids to start playing football and tournaments like this make our motto of growing Goa’s game possible.”
