Drama around East Bengal vs Mohun Bagan derby in CFL continues!

Calcutta Football LeagueIf tomorrow’s Kolkata derby between East Bengal Club and Mohun Bagan AC in the Calcutta Football League’s Premier Division – A would be played or not at the Kalyani Stadium will only be known at the time of kick-off.

At the start of the day it looked as if Mohun Bagan would surely not play in the derby tomorrow, but it changed a few times over the course of the day and it is a 50-50 guess, if the derby would be played or if East Bengal would get a walkover and come closer to winning their seventh CFL title in a row.

Mohun Bagan came up with a new demand today by wanting 48 hours to prepare for the derby besides getting a chance to train at the match venue, the Kalyani Stadium, but those requests were turned down by the Indian Football Association (West Bengal) with East Bengal also saying that they would only play the derby tomorrow as they would soon have to release their players to their respective Indian Super League franchises.

The IFA besides the fans of the two teams would hope that all matters are sorted and the game can go ahead, but big doubts remain if the seasons first Kolkata derby would be played or not.

This whole incidence is such a disgrace for Kolkata and Indian football that the people involved should afterwards introspect and avoid getting into such a situation in the future.
