As excitement mounts with less than a year to go before the 2022 FIFA World Cup kicks off, today’s European play-off draw held at the Home of FIFA has determined the three four-team paths that will define the last three European teams to join next year’s showpiece.
Each path will comprise semifinals and a final with the three winners qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2022. While the semifinals will be played on March 24, 2022, the final matches will take place on March 29.
Path A
Semifinal 1: Scotland v. Ukraine
Semifinal 2: Wales v. Austria
Path B
Semifinal 3: Russia v. Poland
Semifinal 4: Sweden v. Czech Republic
Path C
Semifinal 5: Italy v. North Macedonia
Semifinal 6: Portugal v. Turkey
Based on a subsequent draw conducted today, the following teams would play at home in case of advancing to the final: winner of semifinal 2, winner of semifinal 3, winner of semifinal 6.
