The final of the DSK Cup 2016 was played on Sunday, November 20 between hosts DSK Shivajians FC and Ozone FC at the DSK Dream City Football Fields in Loni, Pune with DSK Shivajians winning the game 3-2 to lift the trophy.
It was a tough final from both sides with things not always fair, but the home team went into the break with a 1-0 lead following a 24th minute goal from their Spanish captain Juan Quero, but DSK lost Shane McFaul and Amey Ranawade in quick succession due to injuries.
After the break things got even better for DSK with Korean striker Kim Song-Yung scoring in the 55th minute, but G. Vignesh reduced the deficit on the hour mark for the guests from Bengaluru.
The second session continued to be tense, but the home team somewhat sealed their title in the 83rd minute when striker Naro Hari Shreshta made it 3-1. Ozone FC did score the last goal of the match and tournament late into stoppage time through former India striker C.S. Sabeeth.
After the final game, DSK Shivajians FC lifted the DSK Cup for the third time in a row with C.S. Sabeeth (Ozone FC) adjudged as the best player of the tournament, Naro Hari Shreshta (DSK Shivajians FC) was the top scorer while Abhishek Das (DSK Shivajians FC) was named as the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
