Due to Coronavirus, Borussia Dortmund stop plans for China & India!

German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund after evaluating the current situation created by the spread of the Coronavirus have stopped plans of teams visiting China, India and Southeast Asia.

Borussia Dortmund executive director Carsten Cramer told the Kicker magazine, “We had to weigh up the risks. And this risk assessment was at the expense of the trip. There is no point in flying.”

Borussia Dortmund have cancelled their plans for an eight/nine day summer tour to China and Singapore with the first team in July 2020. Matches against Liverpool FC, Manchester United and an Italian Serie A side were lined up as part of the 2020 International Champions Cup (ICC), which has now also cancelled the Asian leg of the ICC 2020.

Now Dortmund are looking at other potential options for their first team to visit. The options are now the United States and Europe, but the club will not force anything through and could fully cancel plans for a pre-season tour and just focus on preparations for the 2020/21 season.

Another trip to India was also cancelled. Earlier on March 22, the BVB Legends were supposed to take on an IFA Bengal XI at the Saltlake Stadium in Kolkata, but that match was also cancelled by the club due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Former Dortmund players like Roman Weidenfeller, Dede, Marcio Amoroso, Jan Koller and others were supposed to play in Kolkata as the first-ever Borussia Dortmund side on Indian soil.
