East Bengal to host I-League matches in Kalyani instead of Saltlake Stadium!

Kolkata giants East Bengal Club today informed through a press release that it would be playing its 2019/20 I-League matches at the Kalyani Municipal Stadium instead of the Saltlake Stadium.

Only the Kolkata derby against Mohun Bagan would be played at the Saltlake Stadium due to operational and security issues, while the club has requested the AIFF to schedule their matches in Kalyani for 5pm.

The club further wrote in their statement, “The proposal to host the first QEBFC home match as a part of the Centenary Celebration at the East Bengal Club ground was duly considered by the owners of QEBFC and necessary arrangements for organizing he same were proceeded upon by the QEBFC management. After the subsequent discussion between Head Coach and East Bengal Club officials, it was mutually decided to relocate the matches to any other ground.”

“The mandatory terms and conditions which were given by VYBK authorities to QEBFC to host its home matches at VYBK were conflicting with AIFF rules and regulations,” East Bengal further stated.

So now, East Bengal would kick-off their I-League campaign against Real Kashmir FC on Wednesday, December 4 at the Kalyani Stadium.
