FA of Odisha hold preliminary preparatory meeting for FAO League 2023!

A preliminary preparatory meeting pertaining to the conducting of the FAO League 2023 was held earlier today.

Asirbad Behera (Secretary, FAO), Bhakta Ballav Das (Treasurer, FAO), Bijay Das (Vice president FAO), Dillip Kumar Sahoo (Vice president FAO), Avijit Paul (Joint Secretary, FAO) and Biswa Ranjan Gharei (Joint Secretary, FAO) along with all the Secretaries/Representatives of all participating FAO League Clubs were present.

Firstly the champions of 1st Division & champions/runners up of 2nd Division FAO League 2022 of various groups were given away the winning amounts by the office bearers of FAO namely:

1st Division
• Diamond Group – Sunrise Club & Radha Raman Club (Joint Champions) = Rs. 1 Lakh (Each)
• Gold Group – Bidanasi Club (Champions) = Rs.75,000
• Silver Group – Kishore Club (Champions) = Rs. 50,000

2nd Division
• Eleven Gun Club (Champion) = Rs. 25,000
• Uday Club (Runners Up) = Rs. 15,000

It was decided that the remaining of the previous year’s FAO Super Cup 2022 i.e. the Semifinals and Finals will be completed in the first week of June 2023. Subsequently the FAO League 2023 will commence.

The signing of the players for the FAO League 2023 will start from April 1 and will go on till May 15, 2023.

Other major announcements made were:
1. The Senior Men Inter District Championship for Sahani Cup 2023 will take place in the month of April 2023 at Cuttack in a whole new format, where a total of 32 districts will be divided into eight groups, each group consisting of four teams, all teams playing three matches each subsequently the qualified eight teams will reach the quarterfinal stage and will be divided into two groups (four each) and play in a league format. The four qualified teams will go on to play the Semifinals and Finals.
2. The Football Association of Odisha is also going to conduct the U-15 & U-17 Youth Leagues in the month of April and May.
3. FAO will be conducting Inter School Championships at various district level with the help all District Athletic Associations
4. Various Grassroots centres to be setup at various locations across the state.
