FC Bayern Global Academy programme gets off to successful start!

The FC Bayern Global Academy team has been part of Bayern Munich’s international youth football programme since September 2023. The new format is a unique opportunity for talented Under-17 players from all over the world to form a team and train for a season at our youth academy, the FC Bayern Campus and the venerable Säbener Straße. We look back on almost four months full of events, and above all sporting successes.

Head coach Klaus Augenthaler

It all kicked off in September with the Welcome Event in the clubhouse at the FC Bayern Campus. All parents, players and the coaching staff led by head coach and legend Klaus Augenthaler came together to get in the mood for the eventful months ahead. This also marked the start of an intensive first half, in which the players were not only to be developed as individual talents, but also to grow together as a team.

The first training sessions at Säbener Straße and the FC Bayern Campus were characterised by getting to know each other and understanding the requirements of the record champions’ playing philosophy. The foundations were laid for a successful season.

First match against FC Ismaning

Although the first match against FC Ismaning U-18s ended in a deserved 4-1 defeat, the continuity of training paid off in the weeks that followed. Despite initial difficulties, the team was able to rack up win after win in the games that followed. Not only did the team structure improve steadily, but the individual development of the young players on and off the pitch was also clearly noticeable.

From success to success

In addition to technical skills, the tactical elements were also integrated step by step. As a result, the FC Bayern Global Academy no longer had to accept defeat and was able to win against the SpVgg Unterhaching U-16s and other teams.

The boys were also rewarded with their first highlights off the pitch, including impressive stadium visits, with the highlight being the UEFA Champions League match against Galatasaray at the Allianz Arena.

Focus on the second half of the season

The second half of the season is already eagerly awaited. In addition to the new players we will be welcoming in February, the pressure on the starting places is also increasing. It also remains to be seen in what condition the Global Academy players will return and to what extent they were able to utilise the winter break with their individual plans.

Only in this way can the positive trend continue and the development take its course. The FC Bayern Global Academy is therefore already an absolute bonus in the pathway of international youth football.
