FC Bayern Youth Cup entering 11th edition!

The FC Bayern Youth Cup is entering its 11th edition this year, and once again offers talented youngsters from all over the world a platform to showcase their skills in front of FC Bayern’s youth coaches and legends. The highlight of the competition is the world final, which will take place in October.

“The FC Bayern Youth Cup offers young players a unique opportunity to showcase their sporting prowess and get on the radar of international talent scouts,” says Michael Diederich, executive vice chairman of FC Bayern. “By bringing together numerous nations and cultures, the tournament is also a platform for intercultural exchange that shows that football is a universal language. Above all, the FC Bayern Youth Cup brings together young people from different cultures, so the tournament has an impact beyond football.”

Since 2012, FC Bayern and its global partners have been bringing together players from more than 17 nations as part of the international football tournament, offering many a springboard from grassroots football to professional sport. More than 20 talented players have already signed a professional contract after taking part or have been called up by their national team. Jochen Sauer, director of youth development at FC Bayern: “As an essential part of our international youth football programmes, the FC Bayern Youth Cup paves the way for talented youngsters from all over the world to play competitive football. The past few years have shown what a unique sporting opportunity the FC Bayern Youth Cup offers young players who are not part of a youth academy.”

Daniel Francis from Nigeria, who took part in the 2019 Youth Cup, represents of the greatest success stories. As MVP of the tournament, he earned a place in the FC Bayern World Squad and was subsequently signed by the German record champions. The youngster is currently on loan at Austria Klagenfurt to gain his first experience in European professional football. Victor Orakpo, also from Nigeria, can look back on a similarly successful career. The MVP of the 2022 Youth Cup was signed by Nice following his participation in the World Squad.

In 2024, FC Bayern will once again welcome numerous talented athletes from all over the world, including teams from the USA, Rwanda, Nigeria, Argentina and India. For the first time, a Team Germany will compete this year, composed of players from FC Bayern Campus training partner clubs.

The first national final took place in Nigeria last weekend, with FC Bayern representatives already scouting the first participants for the world final in October.
