FC Bayern Youth Cup – Japan to take place in March 2022!

FC Bayern Munich’s prestigious international FC Bayern Youth Cup is returning to Japan. Over two football camps on March 21/22 & 23/24, FC Bayern coaches will scout the best young players to take part in a qualification tournament for the Youth Cup at Prince Takamado Memorial JFA YUME Field in Chiba on March 25. This year, the football camps are open to both boys and girls. For the boys there’s a place at the FC Bayern Youth Cup World Final in Munich at stake, while the girls have the chance of an invitation to training sessions at the FC Bayern Campus. Both initiatives are supported by long-time partners adidas, Volkswagen and Japan Football Association (JFA).

Andreas Jung, FC Bayern board member for marketing, said: “The FC Bayern Youth Cup is a great opportunity to excite youngsters all over the world about football – and to help a few talents on the path to professional football. We’re very pleased that we can carry on this project in Japan again this year.”

The best 10 boys will be selected for the FC Bayern Youth Cup World Final in Munich, where they are due to play at the Olympiastadion against youth teams from across the world. “Japanese youth football is at a high level, and I’m looking forward to seeing these young talents at the tournament,” said Klaus Augenthaler, who is acting as a patron along with Giovane Elber.

The best three girls will be invited to Munich for a two-week training course at the FC Bayern Campus. Bianca Rech, sporting director of FC Bayern Women, said: “One of our top players, Saki Kumagai, is Japanese, so we’re happy at being able to welcome young Japanese talents here in Munich. In our teams here, they’ll get a big opportunity to develop, and it’ll be a great platform for them to take the next step on their path to professional football.”
