FC Bengaluru United appoint former India international Nallappan Mohanraj as Head Coach!

Bengaluru-based I-League 2 club, FC Bengaluru United (FCBU), have appointed former India international Nallappan Mohanraj as their new head coach for the upcoming I-League 2. A seasoned football professional with an illustrious playing career and extensive coaching credentials, Mohanraj brings a wealth of experience to the club.

Mohanraj, who holds an AFC ‘A’ Diploma Coaching Certificate, is well-known in Indian football circles for his contributions as both a player and a coach. His coaching career highlights include stints with India’s U-19, U-20, and U-23 teams, where he played a pivotal role in player development. He also successfully guided Tamil Nadu’s Santosh Trophy team to the competition’s final round after an eight-year hiatus, reaffirming his ability to lead and inspire teams.

As a player, Mohanraj represented the Indian national team from 2008 to 2013, captained the U-19 team during the AFC U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers in 2007, and was part of the 30-member Indian squad for the 2011 AFC Asian Cup. At the club level, he played for renowned teams such as Mohun Bagan, ATK Kolkata, and Chennaiyin FC, achieving significant milestones, including winning the Indian Super League (ISL) in 2014.

FC Bengaluru United launch their bid to qualify for the I-League with the first I-League 2 game against SAT Tirur on 25th January, 2025.
