The All India Football Federation organised FIFA Women’s Football Administrative Course kicked-off at the AIFF Headquarters in the Capital earlier today, August 16.
The Workshop, which aims to provide avenues for excellence to Women’s Footballers and focuses on the successful launch of the National Women’s League, was attended by participants from Indian Super League clubs (Delhi Dynamos and FC Pune City), I-League clubs (Mumbai FC and Aizawl FC), State Associations (WIFA, Pondicherry, Odisha, Kerala, Manipur, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh) and representatives from Royal Wahingdoh FC and FSDL.
Speaking on the occasion, AIFF Women Committee’s Chairperson Sara Pilot said, “We need to expand our vision when it comes to Women’s Football and we have to look forward to create role-models to promote Women’s Football in India.”
“The Workshop helps us to broaden our horizons and we need to scout the talent that we are missing out on. Let us use the Workshop as a big push to Women’s Football in India and make the most out of the four days.”
“We are proud that finally we are in a position to announce the Women’s League in India. It is a great opportunity to take Women’s Football forward in India”, she added.
The FIFA Women’s Administrative Workshop acts as a value addition to the AIFF Women’s League Workshop, which was conducted on July 5, 2016 to bolster the successful launch of the National Women’s League.
AIFF’s Technical Director Scott O’Donell stressed on the importance of the Workshop and said, “This is an important Workshop because we need to start a Women’s league and we have to promote Women’s Football through a sustainable League which will benefit the National Team as well.”
“The success of the Workshop depends on how you (the participants) implement it for the development of Women’s Football for a better future of Women’s Football in the Nation”, O’Donell added.
Turkey’s Ebru Koksal, the Instructor of the Course informed the participants that, “over the Course we will dissect Women’s Football in India, talk about the problems, the solutions, the challenges and how to overcome them.”
The four-day Workshop, which concludes on August 19, captures the essence of Football Administration and is engineered to tutor the participants in topics such as Strategy, Planning, Finance and Budgeting.
