Earlier in the day, the latest quarterly FIFA Women’s World Ranking were released by the world football governing body and in the third rankings of 2017, India gained four spots to be in 56th position jointly with Peru behind Israel and ahead of Slovenia.
India have 1409 points, five points more than last month and they stay in 13rd position in the Asian (AFC) Women’s rankings.
India gained points through a 2-0 friendly away win in Malaysia.
In South Asia, India remain in top spot ahead of Nepal (94th), Bangladesh (106th), Sri Lanka (107th), the Maldives (109th), Afghanistan (112th) and Bhutan (116th) with Pakistan currently unranked.
There were changes in the top 5. The United States (2,104 pts) retain top spot ahead of Germany (2,077 pts), while England (2,037 pts) gained two spots in third as France (2,030 pts) and Canada (2,027 pts) dropped a spot each to complete the top five.
