First Ever Women’s Football Convention to assemble global leaders in Paris!

With just over a week to go until the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France to kick off, the agenda for the Women’s Football Convention has been published today, confirming a high-profile line-up of speakers who will discuss the latest trends and share best practice case studies from women’s football as well as emerging opportunities to further develop the women’s game for the benefit of a more inclusive and diverse society.

Sarai Bareman, FIFA Chief Women’s Football Officer said, “The inaugural FIFA Women‘s Football Convention is a crucial stepping stone in promoting the women’s game, making football a sport for all and to use it as a platform to empower women and girls around the world.”

The first day of the convention will be dedicated to women’s football practitioners and representatives of FIFA’s 211-member associations and six confederations. It will explore and debate the five strategic pillars from the Women’s Football Strategy which was launched in October 2018 with a view of concretely reaching the organisation’s objectives of growing participation, increasing commercial value and building upon the current foundations of the game.

Political leaders, commercial partners, senior representatives from international organisations and high-profile players will gather on the second day of the convention to discuss the challenges, barriers and opportunities for growth and development of the women’s game. Focus will be on how sustainable strategies, programmes and partnerships can contribute to both women’s football and a more diverse and inclusive society.

The Women’s Football Convention will be moderated by a number of high-profile sports broadcasters including Carol Tshabalala, Amanda Davies and Alex Scott. Amanda Vandervort, a Fan Engagement and digital innovation expert, will also be tweeting live updates from the convention with a view to engage with attendees and women’s football stakeholders online through the official hashtag #FIFAWFC2019.

Please note that a live stream of the Women’s Football Convention will be available via FIFA.com on June 6/7, 2019. Live event coverage will be available via the official FIFA Women’s World Cup Twitter Account.
