Former Libyan Football Federation (LFF) General Secretary Abdul Majid Abu Shweisha died aged 80 on Monday, July 27, 2020 in Rome, Italy, after a long illness.
Abu Shweisha was one of the most prominent figures in Libyan football, and served as LFF General Secretary in the 1970s.
He was also a member of CAF Executive Committee, serving terms between 1976 and 1988. He played a great role to see Libya organizing the 1982 Africa Cup of Nations, which remains to date the only time that Libya hosted the continent’s showpiece event.
