Former captain Dominik Kaiser returns to RB Leipzig!

Dominik Kaiser is back at RB Leipzig! Exactly 1,390 days after his emotional departure at the Red Bull Arena, the club legend is a Red Bull once again.

Domme will spend the next five months working across various club departments, including the first team, scouting and youth academy.

Dominik Kaiser joined RBL from TSG Hoffenheim in July 2012 and was a leading player from the beginning, going on to become a figure of identification among fans.

He was the only player to be part of the team from the fourth division days to remain with the club through to playing in the UEFA Champions League and celebrated three promotions with the Red Bulls (2013, 2014 and 2016). He was a pivotal part of the 2014/15 promotion-winning 3.Liga side, registering 13 goals and 14 assists.

He captained the side for two seasons, wearing the armband as the club won promotion from the Bundesliga 2 in the 2015/16 season and also lead the team in its first season in the German top flight. In the Red Bulls’ Bundesliga debut, a 2-2 draw against Hoffenheim on 28th August 2016, Kaiser wrote his name in the history books once again when he scored the club’s first ever Bundesliga goal.

After his time at RB Leipzig came to an end, Dominik Kaiser spent a year and a half at Danish side Brøndby IF (68 games) before a spell with Hannover 96 (78 games, January 2020 – July 2022).

The Mutlanger native ended his playing career in December 2022 and returned to Leipzig with his family.

Dominik Kaiser said, “I am very happy to be part of RB Leipzig again effective immediately and I’m really looking forward to the time ahead. After leaving Leipzig in 2018, I have always remained in close contact with the club and the city. I enjoyed the best and most successful spell of my playing career here and Leipzig has always remained a part of what I consider home.”

“Therefore, after the end of my playing career, it quickly became clear to me that I wanted to return with my family – to the city, but also to RB Leipzig. We had a lot of good discussions in advance about the prospects within the club. In my first role of this kind, the most important thing for me is to gain lots of insights and experience of how a football club works off the pitch; the various departments, administrative processes and numerous areas of responsibility.”

“That’s exactly what I’ll be getting to experience in the upcoming months, so that I can then fit myself into it. After that, we’ll sit down again and discuss which tasks and functions could be suitable to me and come to some agreement between my ideas and those of the club.”
