Former Delhi state football captain Santosh Kujur no more…

Former Delhi state football captain Santosh Kujur, who was popularly known as ‘Boonda’ in football circle, passed away in a city Hospital in New Delhi after prolonged illness. Santosh Kujur was 53 years old. He has left behind his wife and a daughter.

He started his career in 1980 as a striker with the famous Shastri Club in the prestigious DSA local league. He represented Delhi state team in the various age group categories in the National Football championships. He was captain of Delhi State team which participated in Senior National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy held at Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu in 1992.

He was also a regular player of his office football team Delhi Audit, where he was employed since 1990 and still working at the time of his death due to retire in 2024, who also participated in the DSA Institutional Championship and All India Civil Services and Audit Football Championships. He also participated in the prestigious football tournaments of the country, Durand Cup, DCM Trophy, Rovers Cup, etc.

His cremation will take place tomorrow after the return of his only daughter, who lives outside of Delhi.

The Delhi Soccer Association ( DSA ) deeply mourn the untimely death of Santosh Kujur.
