Former Mumbai City FC playmaker Diego Forlan joins Kitchee SC of Hong Kong!

Hong Kong Premier League champions Kitchee SC have signed former Uruguay international Diego Forlan, who is set to arrive in Hong Kong on January 10.

The 38 year old Montevideo-born started at youth level by playing for Peñarol, Danubio and Independiente. It was at Independiente that he made his professional debut and after five seasons left to join EPL giants Manchester United before playing for FC Villarreal, Atlético Madrid, Inter Milan, Internacional, Cerezo Osaka, and Peñarol around the world.

His month recent club was Mumbai City FC in the Indian Super League, where he played for them from October to December 2016 in ISL-3.

Since playing in India, Forlan has been a free agent and his former Mumbai City FC team mate Krisztian Vadocz, now also with Kitchee SC, highly recommended Forlan to the club management to sign him ahead of the Kitchee SC’s debut in the AFC Champion League in 2018.

Despite his high age at 38, Diego Forlan brings a lot of quality and leadership to Hong Kong, which he will now have to prove once he arrives in East Asia.
