Former Mysore University Footballer & administrator S.T. Bhoopal no more!

The Karnataka State Football Association at a scheduled meeting today decided to cancel the meeting due to the death of S.T. Bhoopal, a former Mysore University Footballer and long-time administrator in the state.

The KSFA also decided to cancel all BGDFA Matches and KSFA Women’s Matches as a mark of respect to S.T. Bhooap who had tirelessly served Karnataka Football in various capacities for the last 60 years.

After his playing days in Mysore, S.T. Bhoopal became involved with football administration in the state of Karnataka, working across many positions in the Karnataka State Football Association.

He was manager of the Karnataka state team in the Santosh Trophy and National Games, the junior team for the Dr. B.C. Roy Trophy, before being entrusted to be ground in-charge of the Sree Kanteerava Stadium.

He thereafter was elected as the honorary treasurer and then secretary of the Karnataka State Football Association.

A strict disciplinarian, Bhoopal never allowed players and clubs to get away with indiscipline on or off the field. He always sought reports and initiated penal action as soon as possible if only to serve as a deterrent for the future.

Bhoopal encouraged former players to take to football refereeing or to become coaches. Many of them took his advice and charted out successful careers for themselves with his help and assistance.

Bhoopal was a Governing Board member representing the Bangalore District Football Association in the KSFA. He also served on various sub-committees during major national and international tournaments organised in Bangalore and Karnataka by the KSFA and the AIFF.
