Germany coach Löw calls up Jonathan Tah to replace Antonio Rüdiger at Euro 2016!

DFB logoAfter the shock of injury to defender Antonio Rüdiger for the 2014 FIFA World Cup champions, the Germany Euro 2016 squad is once again made up of 23 players.

Germany head coach Joachim Löw has called up 20 year old Jonathan Tah for the tournament in France. The centre back from Bayer 04 Leverkusen will replace Antonio Rüdiger from AS Roma, who tore a cruciate ligament (ACL) on Tuesday during open training, and will therefore miss out on Euro 2016.

After naming the 20-year-old Tah, who made his only ever appearance for Germany in a 2-3 defeat against England in Berlin on March 26, the German squad will be the youngest at the tournament. With an average age of 25.81, the 23 national players are slightly younger than the England squad (25.84).

Jonathan Tah will join the Germany squad as soon as possible as he got the news of him replacing Rüdiger at the Euro’s while he was on holiday in Miami, Florida. But according to Löw, Tah has been training since the end of the Bundesliga season.
