Goa FA Executive Committee proposes numerous changes in the interest of the game!

Goa Football AssociationThe Executive Committee of the Goa Football Association met ahead of tomorrow’s GFA’s Extra Ordinary General Body meeting and they will table the proposals of a number of changes.

The press release amongst other things said, “The GFA is set to open the door for late evening matches under floodlights that will be strictly regulated to end not later than 9 pm. The intervillage clusters are also proposed for restructuring to overcome the difficulties faced by different clubs. The constitution will now have a category called “Associate Members” to allow a club to make amends for failure to remain as an “Active Member” during a season. Instead of dropping the club directly from “Active” to “Provisional” the club will have an opportunity to join back as an active member within one season failing which the club would be relegated in the Provisional zone for a period of five years.”

The GFA has also sought to target those clubs that do not conduct elections to the respective posts in the clubs by making it mandatory for the clubs to submit their AGM/EGM minutes within one month from the date of the meeting.

Further the GFA president Elvis Gomes state, “Times have changed. Players, officials, fans are working. Those who can, should be allowed to hold late evening matches. However, strict regulations on light intensity, adherence to timings shall be enforced.”

He further added the clubs are facing a lot of constraints while promoting football and often fail to meet the requirements of remaining an ‘Active Member’. Hence instead of punishing them harshly by relegating the clubs into the Provisional zone for five years, the clubs would remain as ‘Associate Member’ for a period of one season and be an Active Member again.

“Many of the decisions arc taken due to overcome some lacuna pointed out by the Judicial Bodies of the GFA,” he said.

Meanwhile, the GFA will also present the awards to the winners of the GFA leagues at an Awards Ceremony after the AGM on the October 22.

The GFA also decided to enforce to explore legal options against the SAG for failure to pay legitimate dues of the GFA of the Lusofonia Games.

In the end the GFA also congratulates Bengaluru FC for creating history by entering of the finals of the AFC Cup.
