Calangute Association played out a 1-1 draw against Vasco SC in the Goa Professional League at the Duler Stadium in Mapusa earlier today.
Calangute Association dominated possession and chances on goal, while Vasco struggled but somehow managed to get a point.
Vasco had the first chance of the match in the 10th minute as their captain Jason Vaz was one on one with the keeper after a perfectly timed pass by Franck Alves Kouassi, trying to beat the keeper Melroy Fernandes, who in turn got to the ball and cleared it away.
At the other end in the 15th minute Sunny Fernandes intercepted a long ball from the back by Raju Haldankar, who failed to finish as he shot the ball straight at keeper.
Thereafter Vasco SC custodian Shilton Fernandes saved his team twice in quick succession as Sunny Fernandes shot the ball, the ball hit the keeper and got back to him but his second attempt also failed.
Sunny sprung into action again just four minutes later as he had a golden chance as he beat the keeper in a one on one but chipped the ball onto the goal.
Sunny Fernandes finally got his Reward in the 38th minute as he got a long ball from Bonny Niasso, who inturn sent the keeper Shilton the wrong way and tapped in the ball into the back on the net.
Vasco SC equalised in the 66th minute Frank Alves Kouassi picked up a pass from Kingslee Fernandes beat two defenders and then scored.
Calangute Association could have again taken the lead three minutes from time as a Yogesh Kadam shot went wide.
With the draw both Calangute Association and Vasco SC have now played 11 matches, Calangute Association with 19 points are in fifth position and Vasco with 10 points in eighth position.
