Guardian Angel SC thrashed Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim 4-1 in a Goa Professional League match organised by Goa Football Association (GFA) at the Duler Stadium in Mapusa on Saturday afternoon.
The five goals came all in the second half after both teams played out a dry draw in the first session. Both teams cancelled each other out in the midfield in the initial minutes as neither of the sides managed to break the deadlock. The Guardian Angel side looked promising with their attack but failed to convert as both teams headed into the break goalless.
Moving over, Jovel Fernandes broke the deadlock for Guardian Angel SC in the 62nd minute as his well placed strike landed in the net to give his team a much deserved lead. Takubu Mohammed added another in the 73rd minute before the beach side boys pulled one back through Alvito Miranda in the 77th minute.
But Princeston Rebello made no mistake to complete a brace as he scored two important goals in the dying minutes. First he netted a goal in the 85th minute while later managing to find his second in the fifth and final minute of additional time.
With this win Guardian Angel SC have gathered a total of 17 points and stay in third position on the points table while SCC Cavelossim are just on six points.
