It’s the Bardez derby all over again as Calangute Association will be up against new boys FC Bardez Goa in the Goa Pro League tomorrow at the Duler Stadium in Mapusa.
Calangute Association will be looking to hit back with a win after they lost their first game with FC Bardez 0-3 in the Goa Police Cup final and they started with a narrow margin win over Sao Miguel De Taleigao. Meanwhile, FC Bardez got their campaign up and running follow a dramatic win against Churchill Brothers last time out.
Valerio Rodrigues will be one of the of the players to watch for FC Bardez with his good skill and has a powerful shot, the last time both these teams met, Valerio created problems coming off the bench.
Speaking in the lead up to the game FC Bardez head coach Armando Colaco said, ”We were in a rhythm. We were playing well but this gap has affected us because we lost the first game. We did not play the second game well against Churchill Brothers yet we still won, We had a long break because of Ganesh Chaturthi, I hope the boys regroup and start playing, I want them to play well and the rest will automatically come.“
Right Back Lenston Afonso added, ”The team is working hard day in and out. Teamwork will help us get all three points. We have beaten Calangute Association in the Goa Police Cup final, but this is a new game, anything can happen, as they have an organised and a good team. After winning against Churchill the boys are all motivated and want to keep the winning momentum going.”
