Table toppers Salgaocar FC smashed five goals past Churchill Brothers in their Goa Pro League encounter played at the Tilak Maidan in Vasco today.
Stephane Kamo Bayi opened the scoring for the Green Brigade in the 7th minute with a well placed header beating the Churchill Brothers keeper. Not long after the first goal Salgaocar FC got their second through the boots of Souvik Das who smashed in the ball from long range. It was The Greens all the way over the Red Machines in the first half which ended 2-0.
On resumption Salgaocar FC kept up the same momentum which they had in the first half and piled on the pressure on the Churchill Brothers defence. In the 55th minute it was James Fernandes who scored the third for the Port Towners following a missed time shot by Kamo.
The Churchill Brothers were now down and out, but attacks kept flooding their box keeping the goalkeeper on his toes. In the 66th minute Liston Colaco was brought down inside the box. Kamo Bayi Stephane took charge of the penalty kick and placed it well to the right of the keeper beyond his reach. In the 79th minute Liston again caused problems for the Churchill Brothers defence as he literary walked with the ball into the goal.
With this victory Salgaocar FC moved to 39 points, seven points clear at the top.
