Salgaocar FC Under-18 outplayed a tame Panchwadi United SC side in the GFA U-18 League fixture played at Seraulim grounds on Monday. The Greens star striker Liston Colaco netted a brilliant brace, while Devendra Mulgaonkar & Somnath Patil netted a goal each to complete the Vasco side’s victory.
The Salgaocar lads didn’t take long to establish their dominance in what would turn out to be a one-sided affair. The Greens missed out to score in the opening 3 minutes on two different occasions. As the game kicked off Rolwin Almeida was able beat the Panchwadi defence & find Selwin Miranda whose effort was directed straight at the opposition’s custodian. Just 2 minutes later Shane Dias was again able to pick out Selwin but the striker was denied yet again by a brilliant save. The game reached its 34th minute when Devendra sent a lob which cleared the Panchwadi defense to make things easier for Liston as he beat the keeper to score. The first half was not to be completed without another goal from Devendra who received a lob in similar fashion as his previous, from Divyanshu Sudan as the former netted the second before lemon break.
The second half saw the Green lads squander many chances leaving the fans in much dismay. Liston completed his brace in style as he stepped up to take a free-kick from outside the box to send a curling ball past the Panchwadi custodian just 3 minutes after clock crossed the hour mark. In the dying minutes of the game Somnath added his name to the score-sheet after Kaushik Negi sent a smart through ball his way. The game ended on a high note for the Greens as they walked away victorious.
