Gokulam Kerala FC unveil new Sega kits for 2021/22 season!

Gokulam Kerala FC have unveiled the match day kits for the upcoming 2021/22 season. The kits are sponsored by SEGA brand under Star Impact Pvt Ltd.

The Malabarians are bracing up for an important season, in which the men’s team will defend Durand Cup and I-League, and also appear in the AFC Cup.

The women’s team will participate in the AFC Women’s Club Competition 2021 to be held in November and will defend their Indian Women’s League title.

The home kit is in Maroon colour and is based on Malabarian’s on-field successes. The kit has got four shooting stars symbolizing the four titles – I-League, Indian Women’s League, Durand Cup, and Kerala Premier League – won by the club.

The pattern of the home kit contains inter-connected rhombus patterns with four corners to show that all the teams (Men’s, Women’s, Developmental, and Academy teams) are given equal prominence by the club.

The away kit, which is in green colour, is dedicated to women’s football. The imprint used on the jersey is of the iconic photo from 1987 taken during Nehru Cup held at Kozhikode EMS Corporation Stadium. The photo depicts a gallery full of women attendees.

The aim of using the photo is to give a throwback to the involvement of women in sports in the Malabar region of Kerala and the support the game enjoyed among the women population during those times.

The photo, which reveals the untold stories of women’s participation in football, is taken by award-winning photojournalist Ali Kovoor.

The goalkeeper kits are designed based on contrasting colours of night and daytime. For the away goalkeeper kit, the patterns are used as a tribute to the long shores of Kerala.

The training kits of Gokulam Kerala FC (for both men’s and women’s teams) also carry a message printed on the back of the jersey – Support women’s football – to highlight the need to develop women’s games in the country.

“Our kit designs illustrate the philosophy, success, and ambition of Gokulam Kerala FC. The club aims to become one of the topmost clubs in the country. For that, we believe that both men’s and women’s football should be given equal prominence.”

“Since we are the first club to represent our country in the AFC Women’s Club competition, we have decided to dedicate our away kits to women’s football. We hope our players – both men and women – will bring glory to Kerala this year also,” said Gokulam Gopalan, the chairman of Gokulam Kerala FC.

“We are pleased to be the kit sponsors of Gokulam Kerala FC. We were happy with their performance and we have decided to continue the sponsorship this season. The club and Star Impact will continue to support football activities in Kerala for both men’s and women’s,” said Mohammad Owais, Managing Director of Star Impact Pvt. Ltd.
