The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s Vision and Mission of providing focused and dedicated services to maximise the potential of its Member Associations (MAs) was further underlined today with the graduation of participants from the third Football Management Diploma (FMD) programme.
A total of 29 participants enrolled in the landmark 13-month online course, dedicating 460 hours of study time over 12 tailor-made modules conceptualised by the AFC as part of its commitment to mould and strengthen the expertise of the Continent’s future football leaders.
The graduates, comprising middle and senior management from AFC MAs, Regional Associations (RAs) and independent stakeholders, will now be able to strengthen the Asian football landscape and develop strategies to ensure the game continues on its upward trajectory of progress.
They will do so through the skills and capabilities gleaned from modules that comprise the Organisation of World Football, International Sports Federations, Strategic Management, Financial Management, Income Generation, Media & Communications, Event Management, Operational Management, Human Resource Management, Child Safeguarding & Social Responsibility, Sports Law and Club Licensing.
Delivered through online lectures, quizzes, discussions and presentations, the modules are designed to keep participants abreast with the ins and outs of football management, whilst equipping them with a comprehensive range of skillsets and abilities to elevate the game and set new benchmarks of excellence.
FMD graduate Ms. Christine Bishay, General Manager, Finance Department said: “While I am familiar with football management, the FMD is a whole new ball game. I plan on making use of my newfound knowledge and the confidence that follows to acquire more experience and hopefully, raise overall standards to ensure Football Australia continues to meet and eventually exceed the industry’s best practices.”
“Participating in the FMD has probably been one of my best career moves,” said Ms. Ruifeng Cindy Guo, Deputy Director of International Relations Department at Chinese Football Association (CFA). “I have always prided myself on learning as much as I can, and the well-crafted, fit-for-purpose modules and the way they are set out, explained and made clear by the experienced instructors have allowed me to meet my objective.”
AFC Deputy General Secretary – Member Associations, Vahid Kardany, said: “My heartiest congratulations to our latest batch of graduates, who have displayed perseverance, commitment and undivided attention to learn more about football management.
“I’m glad to note they have displayed the same passion for football that their peers did, and the fact that they are eager to use their new skills for the betterment of the game augurs well not only for our programme but the AFC as a whole.”
The FMD falls under the groundbreaking AFC Academic Centre of Excellence online platform, which helps shape the next generation of football leaders who will lead the AFC and Asian football towards further football distinction both on and off the pitch.
Since its launch in November 2021, the FMD has quickly established its status as one of the most sought after programmes on the Continent and is now in its fifth edition, which commenced in February this year.
